Version 2023.1 has been delayed by a couple of weeks to allow our team to test and validate various upgrade scenarios. We are targeting a release in about two weeks, but the exact timing will depend on the results of our testing.
If you are eager to get your hands on the new features that are coming soon, we have a pre-release available now and it is already in the hands of a few customers. If you would like to try the pre-release too, contact us, and we'll send you the details on how to download and install it.
In this newsletter, we'd like to tell about some new features coming in v2023.1, starting with a new feature we call the Graph Explorer.
Graphs and charting are central to what FrameFlow does on a day-to-day basis as it monitors your IT systems and alerts you about potential issues. Each time an event monitor runs, it generates one or more data points which are then used to populate dashboards, reports, and other parts of the FrameFlow interface.
Here we have a screenshot from v2023.1 showing a pair of dashboard graphs. Notice the new [...] menu that appears when you hover over a graph.
Clicking on it will activate what we call the "graph explorer":
The graph explorer expands to fill the screen and lets you dig into the collected data. The calendar icon at the top right lets you change the date range and explore other time periods. The icons at the bottom let you add min, max, average, and trend indicators.
Using the mouse wheel, shift, and control keys, you can zoom, pan, and scroll across the data set and focus specific events. You can even export the graph as an image or PDF that you can share with your colleagues or embed in your presentations.
The graph explorer is available for all of your dashboard graphs. You can also activate it for any graph on the Graphs tab of your devices and event monitors.
Our Active Directory Discovery Event Monitor lets you periodically search in AD and if the event monitor finds new devices, it will add them to your monitoring configuration. It's a great way to automatically keep your monitoring configuration up-to-date as your network grows and changes.
To onboard different kinds of devices, you've always been able to have more than one discovery event monitor, each using a different search base. But sometimes you want to filter the results by additional properties and with our v2023.1 release, you will be able to do exactly that.
Here is an example which will select devices based on their object category and operating system:
Combined with FrameFlow's abilities to monitor by device group or monitor by tag, this new filtering option makes it easier than ever to automatically onboard new devices and start monitoring them automatically without having to even lift a finger.
We expect v2023.1 will be available for general release in mid-February. If you would like access to our pre-release version so you can try some of the new features in advance of the official release, contact us and we'll send you the details on how to download and install it. We're looking forward to your feedback!
Sincerely,
The FrameFlow Team
