Overview

The Traceroute Event Monitor checks the traceroutes of your servers for changes in the route and other differences between event monitor runs. It uses standard ICMP pings to do so.

• Receiving alerts about changed routes
• Detecting hops with high latency values

Monitoring Options

This event monitor provides the following options:

Alert if average response time for a hop is greater than a specified value

Use this option to alert based on the average response time for each hop.

Alert if maximum response time for a hop is greater than a specified value

Use this option to alert based on the maximum response time for each hop.

Alert with [Info/Warning/Error/Critical] if the route changed

Most routes are static. If they change, it can indicate an accidental configuration change or other network issue. Use this option to get alerts if the route has changed since the last run.

Maximum number of hops

Choose the maximum number of hops that the event monitor will follow.

Ping each hop

Select the number of ping requests that will be sent for each hop.

Wait time out for each reply

Select the maximum time that the event monitor will wait for ping responses.

Authentication and Security

This event monitor does not require authentication or specific security rights.
