Verifies that FTP sites are running.
The FTP Event Monitor is used to make sure your FTP sites are up and running. While other monitoring solutions will sometimes just check if something is listening on port 22, FrameFlow can log in and perform file transfer requests to verify that your FTP servers are fully functional.
This event monitor provides the following options:
Use this option to get alerts if the DNS server could not be contacted.
With this option selected all alerts and notifications will include the responses that the FTP server returned during connection and log in.
Anonymous access is best for public-facing FTP servers where your goal is to make large files and data available to anyone. Other FTP servers are used to host internal corporate data and will typically require a user name and password to log in. Use this option to get alerts if an FTP server has anonymous access enabled.
Use this option to get alerts if anonymous access is disabled on your web server. To test this, the FTP event monitor will log in using the user name "anonymous" and the password "anonymous@anonymous.com".
Use this option to test that a specific user name and password combination can be used to log into the FTP server.
Use this option to verify that a specified file is present on the FTP server.
With this option enabled the event monitor will alert you if the file you specify is not present.
Specify the time that the event monitor will wait for each FTP response. In most cases, the default value is the best value to use.
If the option to log in with a specified username is selected, you must specify the username and password you want to use. Otherwise, authentication is not required.
This event monitor generates the following data points:
